About laura aydlette, lpc
Ready to feel more like yourself again?
I’m a Northern VA-based therapist who works especially well with high-capacity women navigating relationships, self-trust, ADHD, anxiety, and emotional overwhelm.
there’s more to the story:
Your patterns make sense.
Maybe you’ve spent years wondering why certain things seem harder for you than they should. Why you overthink conversations long after they’re over, struggle to set boundaries without feeling guilty, lose yourself in relationships, or feel overwhelmed by things you think you should be able to handle. Maybe you’ve tried to solve these things by working harder, thinking them through, or pushing yourself to do better, only to end up feeling more frustrated and disconnected from yourself. There are reasons you’ve developed these patterns, and understanding those reasons can change the way you understand yourself.
In therapy, we’ll slow down enough to make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. We’ll look at your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, and the experiences that have shaped you, while paying attention to the patterns that keep showing up. From there, we can work on what you actually want to change, whether that means building self-trust, setting boundaries, navigating relationships differently, understanding your ADHD, or learning to move through difficult emotions without getting completely overwhelmed. My goal is to help you feel more at home in who you are while building the confidence and skills to create a life that feels like your own.
How I work
Therapy should feel like a place you can be yourself.
Therapy should fit you, your goals, and the way you make sense of the world. I draw from different therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to what you need, whether that means traditional talk therapy, EMDR, somatic work, or something else.
And you get to be yourself here. You can think out loud, bring me the thing you've been analyzing for three weeks, or show up without knowing where to start. If your values or Catholic faith are an important part of how you understand yourself and your life, there’s room for that here, too.
We are a good fit if —
You’re curious about yourself and ready to understand the patterns behind what you’re experiencing.
You’re ready to be an active part of your therapy and put what we work on into practice.
You want support that helps you feel more confident, grounded, and like yourself in your everyday life.
We are not a good fit if —
You’re looking for immediate crisis support or a higher level of care than weekly outpatient therapy can provide.
You’re looking for therapy that’s primarily focused on advice or problem-solving rather than understanding the bigger picture.
You’re looking for specialized treatment outside the areas I work in.
Therapy with me is —
-
You play an integral role in treatment planning. We figure things out together.
-
You can show up exactly as you are.
-
We tailor therapy to what you need.
-
We connect what happens in therapy to your everyday life.
