therapy that makes room for your faith.
Catholic-Integrated Therapy
Sound like you?
You want to honor your Catholic faith while navigating difficult relationships, setting boundaries, or making decisions that feel complicated. You may struggle with guilt, second-guess yourself, or wonder how to care for your own needs while staying true to your values.
You can honor your faith without losing yourself.
let’s make sense of it.
Your faith can be an important source of meaning and direction, but sometimes guilt, expectations, or difficult relationship dynamics can make it hard to know how to move forward. You may find yourself questioning whether you're doing the right thing or struggling to balance your own needs with your commitments to others. With the right support, you can work through these tensions, grow in self-trust, and make decisions that feel more grounded in your faith and values.
How I can help
Imagine what it would feel like…
To talk openly about your faith without worrying about being misunderstood or judged?
To work through difficult questions while staying grounded in what you believe?
To make decisions with greater clarity when your faith, emotions, and circumstances feel complicated?
To feel more at peace with where you are in your faith journey, even when you don't have all the answers?
Your faith is an important part of who you are, and it deserves room in the conversation. Therapy can help you explore what you're experiencing, make sense of the questions you're carrying, and find a way forward that feels consistent with your beliefs and values.
my approach to therapy
It can be a relief to work with a therapist who understands your Catholic faith.
You can get to the heart of what's bothering you without having to explain the beliefs, traditions, or values that shape your perspective. If there are certain areas of your life where you want faith to be part of the conversation, you can feel confident that your therapist will respect those values.
“Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth.”
St. John Paul II, Fides et Ratio
In our work together, we can explore how your faith connects with the challenges you're facing, whether that's working through guilt, navigating relationships, managing anxiety, or making a difficult decision. When it fits your goals, we can incorporate Catholic teachings, Scripture, or prayer alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
My goal is to help you understand what you're experiencing, work through difficult emotions, and make meaningful changes while respecting the role your faith plays in your life.

Catholic-integrated therapy is mental health counseling that respects your Catholic faith and makes room for it in the therapeutic process. Depending on your preferences and goals, this may include exploring how your beliefs and values relate to your emotional experiences, relationships, and decisions, alongside evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
-
Catholic-integrated therapy uses the same clinical foundation as other psychotherapy, while making room for the role your faith plays in your life. If you're Catholic, working with a therapist who understands your beliefs can help you spend less time explaining the context and more time working through what's bringing you to therapy.
-
No. Therapy focuses on your mental health, emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships. Spiritual direction focuses more specifically on your spiritual life and relationship with God. Depending on your needs, you may find either one helpful, or choose to participate in both. I only provide mental health therapy.

Tria Corda Counseling offers Catholic-integrated therapy in person in Burke and Fairfax, Virginia, as well as online therapy for clients located in Virginia, Florida, and South Carolina. If you want your Catholic faith to be part of your mental health care, we can discuss what you're looking for during a free consultation.
-
Of course! You can bring questions, doubts, or complicated feelings about your faith into therapy. You don't have to arrive with everything figured out. We'll focus on understanding your experiences and supporting your mental health while respecting your beliefs and where you are in your faith journey.
We can also use EMDR to work with the experiences and beliefs that show up underneath patterns like people-pleasing, difficulty setting boundaries, fear of conflict, or constantly questioning yourself. If EMDR seems like a good fit for what you’re working on, we’ll talk together about how it could fit into your therapy.
-
No. You don't have to be Catholic to work with me. If your faith or spiritual beliefs are important to you, we can explore how they connect with your experiences and goals.
-
Absolutely. We can explore relationship struggles, boundaries, conflict, and difficult decisions while taking your Catholic faith and commitments seriously. My role is to help you understand what's happening, clarify your values, and work through your options. I'll respect your ability to make your own decisions.
